Welcome to florida transitional living
Thank you for visiting Florida Transitional Living. We’re here to provide an additional resource to those who are in the initial stages of recovery from drug addiction. We know the process of breaking an addiction to any form of drugs is a difficult task, and we want to help by bridging the gap between the sheltered environment of a treatment facility and the return to day-to-day life.
If you’ve already decided you needed to stop using drugs, that’s a very important first step. If you’ve entered a treatment program, you’re well on your way to living a drug-free life. You’re to be congratulated for what you’ve accomplished so far. You’ve begun your journey of recovery, and we’re here to offer a place of respite and reassurance as you continue to “trudge the Road of Happy Destiny. *”
(* quoted from page 164 of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous).
Early recovery is a fragile time for many people; so if you’re feeling a little “off balance,” don’t worry. You’re not alone. In treatment, you’ve been dealing with aspects of your past that may have been very unsettling. You’ve learned much about yourself and your reasons for turning to drugs in the first place. You’ve also been exposed to a great deal of new information. If you feel like you’re on shaky ground, it shouldn’t be surprising.
That’s why Florida Transitional Living was developed: to support you during this important time between your “graduation” from treatment and your return to regular life. In the following pages, you’ll learn more about our purpose, our values and the services we provide. You’ll also learn what we know to be true about the process of recovery, and how you can give yourself the best possible chances to hold onto what you’ve worked so hard to accomplish.
Again, congratulations for taking the first, and most significant bold steps toward a life that’s free of drugs—and all that goes with them: poor health, ruined relationships, lost jobs and friendships, criminal activity that had you constantly looking over your shoulder, and lots of money spent chasing highs that never really satisfied.
Today is a good day to be clean and sober.
